We finally get behind the wheel of the 2023 Kia EV6 GT.
The Kia EV6 GT has striking looks: A sloping hood integrated into a thin grill and a larger spoiler. A swooping roofline with 21-inch wheels, lime green brake calipers, and LED taillights across the rear give the Kia EV6 a Je ne sais quoi.
The cabin is as captivating as the exterior, with sport bucket seats; disapointly, they are not power-operated. The gauge 12.3″ is colorful and configurable. One of the many cool features is the augmented reality head-up display, which allows you to see if there is a car in your blind spot.
Boasting a dual 12.3 display navigation, Apple Car Play, Android Auto, voice command, Bluetooth system, Wi-Fi, and a heavenly Meridian sound system, So go ahead, Pump up the volume to your favorite tune.
Considering the sloping roofline, the cabin is spacious. The center console appears to float. There is lots of storage underneath the console and USB and power ports. We are happy to report that our Lululemon water bottle fits perfectly in the two cup holders in the center console.
Comfort and spacious continue into the rear seats, which fold for more cargo space. There is a small frunk with an enclosed cargo box in case more space is needed.
The E.V. G.T. 6 drives excellent, lightning-fast once in G.T. mode; the 576 electric ponies accelerate quickly. However, keep in mind your range depletes just as fast. While on this subject, let’s talk about how the added horsepower takes the range down to 206 miles.
The EV GT6 has dual motors, making it AWD. It is powered by a 77.4 Kilowatt hour battery rated at 576 horsepower and 554-pound-ft. of torque. It hits 0 to jail in 3.2 seconds with a top speed of 161 mph, so it sprints to the finish line.
Charging is easy but takes time using a level 2 charger. Our estimate using a Blink level 2 was. We recommend a level 3 charger charger. It’s worth noting that the plug-in is located in the right rear taillight.
The Kia EV6 is a snappy E.V. with a lackluster range and stiff Competition with the Volkswagen I.D. 4, Ford Mustang Mach-E, and its relative, the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
I will repeat this: only some things that glitter are gold; while the EV6 is a great E.V., it has a lackluster range and is slow to charge if you do not have a level fast charger ( the manufacturer states you can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 18 minutes ) versus 7 hours when using a level 2 charger.
Our 2023 EV6 GT AWD in runway red tester has an MSRP of $61,400.00 plus $1,295 shipping and handling.
