The all-new 2024 Chevrolet revealed a significantly updated Trax model with a more extended, sleeker, and sportier design. The new silhouette is 11 inches longer than its predecessor, showcasing the brand’s dedication to modernity. Drawing inspiration from the Blazer, the front and rear end details add sophistication to the overall design. With 7 inches of ground clearance, the Trax ensures easy entry and exit and improved visibility from the driver’s seat.
Now, let’s examine the Trax’s performance. This small SUV is powered by a 1.2L turbo Ecotec 3-cylinder 137-horsepower engine coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This dynamic combination ensures swift movement, with the engine operating smoothly and delivering a zippy feel.
The car we tested is the 2RS package, the top-of-the-line trim package. You’ll notice a well-laid-out interior when you sit in the driver’s seat. Given the price point of $27,060.00, the luxurious interior is a pleasant surprise. It features Evotex seating materials that resemble leather, are soft to the touch, and are easy to clean. The seats are comfortable and heated, although they do not have power adjustments.
The vehicle features an 8-inch color driver information screen that is easy to read. You can adjust the information using the flat-bottomed steering wheel. In the dashboard’s center is an 11-inch touchscreen that includes the rear camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 6-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM. Below the touchscreen are the air conditioning controls. Moving down to the center console, you will find the gear shifter, wireless cell phone charger, cupholders, a switch to deactivate the start/stop system, and a switch to turn off the traction control.
We were pleasantly surprised by the generous leg and headroom in the back seat. The Trax can comfortably seat three adults, but two would be even more comfortable. The redesigned Trax offers 3 inches more legroom than the previous generation. Backseat passengers can access two USB-C ports, although there are no air vents or fold-down armrests.
The spacious cargo area provides 26 cubic feet of covered storage, revealed when you lift the tailgate. Folding down the back seat expands the cargo area to 54 cubic feet. Great for your Costco run.
The Trax drives smoothly and quietly, with quiet acceleration. It has a zippy feel, and its fuel economy is 28 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, giving a combined 30 mpg. Overall, it’s a great value.
