In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Hot Wheels is hitting the road with the largest Hot Wheels travelling car show, The Hot Wheels Legends Tour, in search of a custom car worthy of being a Hot Wheels die-cast car. The focus of the tour stop in Phoenix will be “Off-Road Trucks.” Fifty years ago, Hot Wheels launched with a line of legendary 16 cars – The “Sweet 16.” At the Phoenix stop, our panel of car expert judges will cast their vote for the cars that will become the new “Sweet 16:” Fans from ages had the opportunity to enter their cars to win a trip to 2018 SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas and win a chance to turn their car turned into a Hot Wheels diecast vehicle, sold at stores around the world. They also got close and personal with the fleet of Hot Wheels life-size vehicles travelling around the country from the Hot Wheels garage.
The winner of the contest was Dan Robertson of Prescott, as he won the Scottsdale stop of the Hot Wheels Legends Tour.
Robertson and his 1966 Chevy Pickup will now compete at the SEMA Auto Show in Las Vegas against the 14 other tour stop winners for the chance to have their car made into a Hot Wheels diecast car sold worldwide. The truck was a father/son build. He and his son found the chassis, and built it for fun.The Robertson’s are a family of drag racers in Arizona. They have been building cars and drag racing for a long time. It’s a part of their family tradition. In fact Robertson and his late wife used to race together.

- tube chassis
